The North West Sound Archive

The North West Sound Archive, housed at Clitheroe Castle in the Ribble Valley, is the largest collection of sound recordings in the UK outside of London.

Artists Steve Manthorpe and Shanaz Gulzar will be working with the archive to develop an online project that will open up the collection to a wider audience. The project will also work temporarily around the town of Clitheroe, coinciding with one of the areas spring festivals.


About the artists

ADEPT is the artistic co-practice of Shanaz Gulzar and Steve Manthorp. The artists have worked together since 2004 creating interactive and light-based installation artworks, drawing upon a range of technologies including digital, video, games technologies, animation and social media. ADEPT’s practice is always accessible and socially engaged but uncompromising in the rigour of its artistic vision and the quality of its execution
